COSTUME DESIGN BY JOYCE SIRARD

Joseph’s Dream was first inspired by a gift from Joyce Sirard to Alexander Diaz. It was a beautiful old Bible, and the illustrations in this book helped Alex to really understand the stories. Upon first opening the Bible, the first story Alex encountered was the story of Joseph’s Dream, and the Angel’s visitation. This gift and its illustrations were the first sparks of this vision. Joyce has continued to fuel Alex’s vision by working with him to create beautiful, and awe inspiring costumes for Joseph’s Dream. She has worked tirelessly to create some very special pieces to bring Alex’s vision to life, especially in the angel, spirit, and in the devil and her creatures. Setting the stage as a runway, Alex wanted to showcase the elaborate costumes and give off a high fashion feel. The costumes have an altogether ‘other worldly’ characteristic. bringing out the supernatural and surreal quality of the dream. These are juxtaposed against the natural authentic fabrics of the every day man and woman in ancient Jerusalem.
